M7: Strengths Test

For This assignment I decided to do the strength test and implement 3 new ways on how I could improve them. Many of my strengths at the top were equal, so I just used the top 3 it showed.

Self Control:
   1) The first way I tried to improve my self control was to simply look at the big picture. I felt like if I was able to look a the big picture, I would not rush things and overwhelm myself and skip the details. This was good for me because I knew that each little thing I did was going to be used in that big picture.
   2) Next, i really just tried to relax. If I was able to slow things down and focus on one thing at a time, I believe I could control my emotions on not over do it. This really helped this week as i had big projects due and not a lot of time to do them, but by relaxing I was able to control my thoughts and get things down.
   3) Lastly, I made sure I got plenty of sleep. Self control is huge and I believe people are weakest when they are tired. I made sure that I went to bed at a decent time, and that I got the sleep I needed. Being well rested, I was able to focus on things more and had a higher self control.

Leadership:
   1) Leadership is huge for me, so my first goal to try and improve my leadership skills was for myself to just see the big picture. I believe that I myself, being the leader, if I had a clear vision, it would be easier for other people to understand my plan and to follow along.
   2) In order to be a better leader, I tried to utilize my strengths and gifts that I have to the best of my ability. Fir example, I am a good communicator. So when a group of friends and I tried to do a project this week, I tried my best to help communicate to everyone what was going on and what everyone needed to do. I felt like things went very well and it helped that I was able to spread to info clearly so everyone understood their role in the project.
   3) Thirdly, I tried to be very passionate about what I was leading. I felt like if I was able to Show that I really cared about something, or in this case, the project, that it would be easier for other people to follow along and want to come with me. It worked because they gained emotions for the project and wanted to get it done as much as I did.

Citizenship:
   1) I love people and building new relationships. So for this I wanted to start off by being more active in the community around me. I felt like the more I was involved, the more people I would meet and the better of a community I would have. With this, I am trying to get together a new sand volleyball club to start in the fall to meet more faces here on campus!
  2) I wanted to improve by citizenship by being more passionate with others. By intentionally getting to know them better to build a firm relationship. By being compassionate, I felt like it would show I truly do care about them and that it would create an ever better friendship.
   3) A very important aspect of leadership I wanted to work on was being respectful to everyone. I feel like this is huge, because if people do not get the sense that you respect them, the chances of the two of ya'll becoming good friends and having a strong relationship is very slim.

Over all I enjoyed this activity. I was forced to see what I need to work on for the things that are already considered strengths for me. Hopefully the practice will carry over and just continue to improve my strengths.
